FAQ: Job Seeker
This is my first time applying, where do I begin?
All open job postings can be applied for online at https://careers.eku.edu. You may view the job list without an account, but you must create one before you can apply.
How do I apply for jobs?
Once you create an online account, search for the position(s) you want to apply for, answer the required questions, and upload any required documents. When you successfully apply, you will immediately receive a confirmation number.
May I mail or fax in a resume?
Due to applicant tracking requirements, mailed or faxed resumes will not be accepted.
I don’t have a computer, how can I apply for a job?
The Human Resources office has computers in the front lobby of Jones 203 that are dedicated to any individual who would like to apply for a position at EKU (office hours: Monday –Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm). If this is not the most convenient option for you, please also consider your local public or University library.
How do I make changes or updates to my employment account profile information? -top-
OES allows you to update and change your account profile information at any time using the "Account Settings" link.
How do I change or update the documents I uploaded to an application? -top-
For changes, please contact the Human Resources Office. Documents cannot be changed by the applicant after successfully applying for a position and receiving a confirmation number.
What if I forgot my username and/or password? -top-
If you have forgotten your user name or password, no longer have access to your e-mail, or are unsuccessful using the “Forgot your username or password” option, please contact the Human Resources Office.
How do I know if my application was received? -top-
When you successfully submit your application, you will receive a confirmation number immediately. You may also check your application status under the "Your Applications" section.
I applied for several jobs online. What is my status? -top-
Application status may be checked by going to the "Your Applications" section of OES and selecting the "Status" tab on the right of the screen.
What if I no longer want to be considered for a position that I applied for? -top-
Go to the "Your Applications" section in OES. Under the current status, click "Withdraw Application".
I withdrew my application from consideration, but now I want to be reconsidered, can I resubmit my application? -top-
Once withdrawn, you will need to contact Human Resources if you wish to reapply.
How do I know how much a position pays? -top-
If the salary range is not advertised, reach out to the contact person listed on the application.
Why did I receive an error message that my Social Security Number already exists for another user?-top-
Typically this means that you have a preexisting account in our system. Please contact the Human Resources Office for assistance.
I applied for several jobs - when will I be contacted? -top-
The time frame will vary by position. If you have questions about the status of your application, please reach out to the contact person listed on the job posting. You may also check your application status online through your applicant account.
Can I apply for a student position if I’m not an EKU Student? -top-
You must be currently enrolled as a full time student at EKU, or registered for the upcoming semester to be qualified for a student position.
What is a Pooled Position (PL)?-top-
Pooled positions are positions that continually accept applications. Please note that not all pooled positions have vacancies at the time you apply, but your application will be kept on file and reviewed when there is a vacancy.
I was hired for a position, do I need to come to HR to fill out paperwork?-top-
All new employees need to complete new employment paperwork before starting their position or attending any training.
